Obituary of Ruth Evelyn Cottrill

Cottrill, Ruth Evelyn (Pokorny, Simpkins), passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, May 26, 2018.  Ruth went home to be with the Lord at the age of 86 years old.  Born October 19, 1931 in North Jersey. 

Ruth was pre-deceased by her son Charles Simpkins (1972) and daughter Ruthann (Simpkins) James (2001), brothers Charles Pokorny, Stephen Pokorny. Lovingly survived by her son Stephen Simpkins Sr. (wife Janice), daughter Mary Jo Marro (husband Carmen), sister-in-law Evelyn Pokorny, grandchildren Angel Simpkins (Paul Smith), Stephen Simpkins Jr., Jamie Simpkins, Desarae (Harrell) Nuse (fiancée Shawn Defeo), Michael Notchey (wife Pamela) and Jessica (Harrell) Young (husband Jon Young, Sr.).  Great grandchildren Stone, Vaughn and Jillian Notchey, Clayton, Cayla and Jayden Simpkins, Essence and Justin Tellerton, Mya and Larry Taylor, Natasha, Christopher Jr. and Brookelynn Nuse, Taylor Defeo, Nathan and Cassidy Harrell, Corey Markey, Jasmine Marro, Lilyana, Aliyah and Jon Young Jr.

Ruth was one of New Jersey’s first EMT’s.  She worked at the Whitehall Laboratory, The N.J. State Forest Service and many years as a Blackjack dealer for Trump Plaza.  She enjoyed painting, ceramics, knitting, crossword puzzles and watching church services every Sunday on TV.  But most of all she enjoyed being with her family.  She will be greatly missed by many.
