Obituary of Helen Boyko

Helen R. Boyko, 93 of Little Egg Harbor, passed away peacefully at Seacrest Village on February 7, 2018.  Helen was born on Oct. 15, 1924 to Albert and Mary (Volotian) Nitko of Monroe Twp., NJ and was the second youngest of nine children.  She resided in Jamesburg and South Plainfield before retiring to Little Egg Harbor.  Helen is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, George J. “Mickey” Boyko.

Helen, whom everyone referred to affectionately as Grandma, enjoyed many happy retirement years in her home on Tuckerton Creek with her husband fishing, crabbing and cooking for her children and grandchildren whom she loved very dearly.  Raised along with her siblings on her parent’s farm in Jamesburg, Grandma had a work ethic which none of us could come close to matching.  She was truly a remarkable woman.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Joyann Rieck (Craig) of Monroe Twp., Linda Schultz (Bob) of Little Egg Harbor and Janet Santoro (Frank) of Ringoes; seven grandchildren, one great grandson and one great grandson soon to join the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday February 12, 2018 at 11:30am at St. Theresa R.C. Church Little Egg Harbor, followed by burial at Brig. Gen William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery.  Visitation will also be on Monday from 9am to 11am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
