John was a very special person in my life personally, and at Gateway Church, where he served as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for many years. His wisdom and common sense meant so much to me and our Board, especially when we made a major relocation. John was right there with me, giving great encouragement and insight as we dealt with the New York City agencies to purchase 23 acres of prime property at the entrance to NYC. What a man, what a mind, and what a heart to see God's work go forward. Even at our last visit with he and Marilyn some months ago, his mind was as sharp as ever at 94 years of age. He, and my brother James, helped and guided many financial and building decisions over the decades they served Gateway before going home to be with the Lord. John was ready to go be with His Lord. "Well done, good and faithful servant..." Your memory will live in my heart until we meet again in Heaven.
