Obituary of Franklin Paul Clayton

Franklin Paul Clayton Jr., 68 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Tuesday January 17, 2017. Franklin was born in Orange and lived in East Orange before moving to Little Egg Harbor in 2003. Franklin was a Communicant of St Theresa’s RC Church, Little Egg Harbor and previously attended Holy Name Church in East Orange. Franklin pursued his undergrad at St Peter’s College in Jersey City and went to work for U.S. Customs as an Import Specialist from 8/30/1971-5/3/2003. During his career he worked for the NYC and Newark Customs and served as a Union Representative. After his retirement he continued his education at the College of St Elizabeth in Morris Twp and obtained his Master’s Degree in Theology. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and very active in numerous theater groups. Franklin loved hiking, travelling the country and the world and was an avid reader. Franklin was predeceased by his parents Franklin Clayton and Helen Clayton nee Porter. He is survived by his loving Siblings brother James Clayton and wife Maria of Randolph, NJ, sister Mary Clayton-Rowen and husband Robert of Bass River Twp, NJ, and Helen Patricia Clayton. Nieces and Nephews James Clayton Jr. and wife Bayley, Sera Capriotti and husband Joseph and Jennifer Rowen-Seckler and husband Abraham and Great Nieces Serafina, Rosemary and Evelyn. A Viewing will be held on Sunday January 22, 2017 from 1-4pm and Monday from 9:30-10:30am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday January 23, 2017 at 11am at St Theresa’s RC Church, Little Egg Harbor followed by burial in Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg NJ.
