Obituary of Florence Jensen

Florence Anne Jensen (Nee McAleer) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Sunday August 28, 2016. She spent her childhood years in Brooklyn and West Roxbury, MA and much of her adult life on Staten Island. “Flo” was married to Martin for 67 years until he passed in 2008. Flo and Martin loved to travel, especially cruising. They sailed transatlantic to Norway. She also enjoyed bowling, reading and crossword puzzles. For many years Flo was employed by the NYC School System as a Teachers Aide, the students and teachers affectionately knew her a “Mom”. She and Martin moved to Manahawkin in 1973. Flo was appointed Director of Welfare of Stafford Twp. and worked in that position until her retirement at age 80. She served as a volunteer at Deborah Hospital and received several awards for her work. Flo was predeceased by her husband Martin Jensen and is survived by a son Martin Jensen, 2 grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. Viewing will be held on Thursday September 1, 2016 from 730 to 8:30am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9am at St. Theresa’s Church, Little Egg Harbor followed by burial at the NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
