Obituary of Sophia N. Smeraglia

Sophia N. Smeraglia, 86 of Little Egg Harbor passed away on Monday February 15, 2016. She was born in Linden, NJ and lived in Rahway, NJ for 53 years before moving to Little Egg Harbor. She was a Communicant of St. Mary of the Pines Church, Manahawkin and a member and officer of the Royal Arcanum Woodside Council 1358. Sophia enjoyed gardening, photography, bird watching and sunsets and she loved to help others. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Veronica Nycz and 5 siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Joseph Smeraglia, son Joseph Smeraglia Jr (Beth) of Garwood, NJ, daughter Diane Gilmore (Jim) of Amityville, NY, grandchildren Caroline and James III and great grandchild Thomas Ferris. Viewing hours will be held Thursday February 18, 2016 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm and Friday February 19 from 9:15am to 10:15am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday at 11:00am at St. Mary of the Pines Church, Manahawkin followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Manahawkin.
