Obituary of Allan C. Vogel

Allan C. Vogel, age 77, of Little Egg Harbor died on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home. Son of the late Martha (nee Wapler) and Charles Vogel, he was born in Paterson and lived most of his life in North Jersey. In 1993, he moved to the Poconos, and in 2004 settled in Little Egg Harbor. A US Army veteran, he entered active duty in 1956 and served with the 82nd Airborne as a tanker at Fort Bragg, NC until his active duty commitment ended in 1958. He was discharged in 1962. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Vogel was a Patrol Lieutenant with the Passaic County Sheriff’s department. He was a member and former 1st Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 493, Little Egg Harbor; the AmVets in Jackson, NJ; and was a member of the MICA Club in Mystic Island. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Lee. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (nee Romanelli), who he married on May 31, 1959; four children, Allan and his fiancé Elena Calvano, Barbara and her husband William Savastano, Richard, and David and his wife Suzanne Barnet; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00am Friday at St. Theresa RC Church, 450 Radio Road, Little Egg Harbor, with interment following at St. Mary Cemetery, Manahawkin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the “Wounded Warriors Project” Track Chair Fund would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. Adelberg and his staff at Atlanticare Cancer Center & Radiology for their love and compassion, and the Vitas Hospice for their constant care and thoughtfulness.
