Obituary of Jay H. Haines

Jay H. Haines, age 64, of Manahawkin passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin. Born in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong resident of Manahawkin. A United States Coast Guard veteran, Mr. Haines was employed as a Construction Official for over twenty years, first by Ocean County, and currently by both Little Egg Harbor and by Bass River Township. A volunteer firefighter, he was a Life Member of the Stafford Township Fire Department, and was a longtime member of the Manahawkin Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Haines. Surviving are his daughters, Moorea Sangiovanni of Bass River, Bethany Haines of Manahawkin and Ashley Wilcox and her husband Preston of Manahawkin; his mother, Jane L. Haines of Manahawkin; his sister, Eva Haines Mueller of Manahawkin; his brothers, Sheridan and Dale Haines of Manahawkin and Herbert Haines of Texas; and his grandchildren, Aubree, Leanna, Daijah, Jahron, Kingston and a grandson on the way. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin. Services will be on Wednesday at 10:00am at the funeral home, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Run.
