John has been our neighbor for 22 years. He would patrol our street to make sure we were all safe. He knew all of our children were precious and he would remind all of us to "slow down". When our children were younger he would always participate during the Christmas celebrations with the Parkertown Firehouse. Santa Clause on the fire truck is classic! He was always fun to talk to on the street during our dog walks. These wonderful memories are forever etched in our hearts. I know that Lynn Dowlen (our old neighbor)and John are chatting away in heaven and will forever be watching over us!

The Hegarty family will remember John as a funny sideline commentator at our kids' soccer games. His love for his family never went unnoticed, and we had the honor of attending a few functions where he was able to shine what we believe was his brightest light for only them. I met you in 1973, our youth was forever intertwined as our town was very small. From the Mystic Buccaneers, the Playhouse to SRHS there was always a camaraderie between “the locals!”
